Can I submit additional documents after the application deadline?
It is not possible to upload additional documents after the online application has closed. You may however send them with email to the contact person of your first-choice university. It is important that you also send a email copy (CC) to the contact persons at your second and third choice universities, as well as a copy to the coordinating office info@josyleen.eu. It is up to the host university to decide whether to consider material sent in after the deadline.

Can I send an application by regular mail?
No, we do not accept printed applications, we only accept applications filed in the online application system. But if you are prevented to use the online application database for some reason you cannot control, please contact the Coordination Office and we will try to find a solution.

Do not send any documents by regular mail, unless asked for it. Make sure that the scanned documents are clear (try it out by printing them), and text/logo/stamps are readable.

Yes, in fact doing so will improve your chances to be nominated. Depending on your language skills, you should at least apply to two universities.

Does it improve my chances to get a scholarship if I register many email accounts and file multiple applications?
No, doing so will lead to exemption from the selection. If you accidentally register two applications with your own personal data using two different email addresses, please contact us and we will help you erase the erroneous one.

I want to apply for a PhD programme in Europe but I have not finished my Master's yet, can I still apply?

I am not from Jordan, Syria or Lebanon, or the EU. Are there scholarships available for my country?
You find the list over countries covered by the Erasmus Mundus, and which university to contact for your specific country, here: http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus_mundus/results_compendia/results_en.php

Does the scholarship cover the cost to bring a spouse to the host destination?  The JOSYLEEN scholarship is an individual scholarship and it only covers the cost for one person.

What happened to the 'Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window'?    JOSYLEEN now receives its funding from an EU programme called Erasmus Mundus Action 2 - Partnership (depending on the Commissions decision in late July 2010). Erasmus Mundus Action 2 is a continuation of the previous EU programme External Cooperation Window.

I got a scholarship from Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window Lot 3/Lot 4 (Jordan Syria and Lebanon) in 2007,2008, or 2009 - can I apply again?
Yes, you can apply again but please state in the application that you already received a scholarship. It is an aim of the programme to distribute the opportunity to as many individuals as possible, andcandidates who have not received a scholarship in previous years will be prioritized. The only exception to this will be university staff who are involved in Higher Education Reform questions, questions of Academic Recognition, Curriculum development etc.

I do not find all the universities from previous years in the list, what has happened?
For this fourth year, we have welcomed three new universities in the partnership. These are: Georg-August University Göttingen, Montpellier 2 University of Sciences and Technolog and University of Warsaw. Univeristy of Zagreb, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and Berlin Technical University will not participate in the JOSYLEEN Phase 4 project. Click here to find a list over the partnership members of previous years.

What do you mean by saying that the new scholarships depend on the European Commission's decision in July 2010?
Each year, the JOSYLEEN applies for continued funding from the European Commission's programme Erasmus Mundus Action 2. If the result on that application is negative, no scholarships will be distributed under JOSYLEEN, but you will instead have to apply to another consortium of universities. (Update 2010-07-15: The JOSYLEEN project application was positively evaluated and JOSYLEEN has been granted continued funding.)
